Goo Goo Dolls Announce Fall Tour Dates

2011-10-03

Goo Goo Dolls hit the road this fall with Ryan Starr

Goo Goo Dolls are the perpetual proponents of melodic pop-rock, with an alternative edge. The hit-makers behind “Black Balloon,” “Name,” “Slide” and countless more have a new album out, Something for the Rest of Us (via Warner Brothers), and the trio have announced they will continue their run of summer shows with a string of fall tour dates starting Oct. 12 in Milwaukee and stretching through Nov. 13 in Eerie, Pa. Ryan Starr opens on most shows. Find a complete list of tour dates, below.

Remember the band’s 1998 ballad, “Iris,” off Dizzy Up the Girl? Following the song being covered on Britain’s The X Factor, the track is all the rage in Britian, and it’s currently No. 1 on the U.K. iTunes chart. “I love the fact that young artists are inspired to sing this song.  It opened a lot of doors for us,” lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Johnny Rzeznik said in a release. “To see it hit No. 1 in the U.K. and connect with a growing new audience is cool.”

Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer Mike Malinin have also just taped a fresh track, “The Best Of Me,” which will playing on an upcoming episode of CBS’s Hawaii Five-O, as well as on a forthcoming soundtrack compilation.
