As I Lay Dying’s new album, Decas, is out just in time for Christmas

Holiday shopping season is officially here, and for the heavy music fan on your list, there’s nothing better than grabbing something musically powerful and brooding to put under the Christmas tree. Those shopping for a metal or hard rock fan on Cyber Monday, or beyond, may want to check out the latest release from San Diego metal-hardcore boys As I Lay Dying, Decas, which is available now in record shops and online.

On Decas, As I Lay Dying serve up a different kind of treat: an album made up cover songs, plus a few fresh tracks and remixes. Decas is the Christian band’s seventh studio release, and the set presents tunes that come together maniacally and furiously, with the twin-guitar attack of Nick Hipa and Phil Sgrosso and vocal presence of howler Tim Lambesis. New songs include the brutal “Paralyzed, “From Shapeless to Breakable” and “Moving Forward.” As for cover tracks, you’ll find songs by Judas Priest, the Descendents and more. It’s doesn’t stop there, as the heavy music pundits throw in remixes of As I Lay Dying hits, such as “The Blinding False of Light” and “Beneath the Encasing of Ashes.”

As I Lay Dying always wears their Christian beliefs on their heavy music sleeves, and as with their previous releases, the one packs a powerful meaning and message. Still, the group’s music appeals to both Christians and non-Christians, with their pristine songwriting chops and deep meanings. With Decas, As I Lay Dying manage to stay true to their roots while also covering the originals, and the new tracks show a broad range and musical prowess that proves why the guys are respected by nearly all in the metal world. Find more information on the release via the band’s official website.
