Demon Hunter add guitarist Jeremiah Scott to the lineup

Christian heavy metal gents Demon Hunter have wrapped up tracking their upcoming album in Seattle. This time around, band members Ryan Clark, Tim “Yogi” Watts (drums), Jonathan Dunn (bass) and Patrick Judge (lead guitar) have added good buddy and guitarist Jeremiah Scott to the fold, who holds guitar credits in metal bands the Showdown and Living Sacrifice. Producer Aaron Sprinkle (Anberlin, Emery) and mixer Jason Suecof (All that Remains, Trivium) mans the knob on the release.

“This record is without a doubt our most aggressive,” vocalist and band co-founder Ryan Clark said in a release. “Every Demon Hunter record must be a step up from the last. I know that’s a goal for every band, but it seldom works that way — especially today, especially in metal. It seems like most bands’ prime years are long behind them. I refuse to let that be the case for us.”

Clark added that the band have been “extremely underwhelmed with metal for the last five years,” which became “fuel to create this record. With an extreme over-saturation of false, fleeting, trend-hopping noise in today’s metal scene, we had to make something we’ve been longing to hear. Something truly meaningful and artistic. Something our fans would love and something that will turn the heads of those who have ignored us for the past decade.”

Seattle’s Solid State Records plans to release the new album in April of 2012. Demon Hunter will also play a hometown show April 27 at Seattle’s El Corazon, and chances are, as more album details drop, the band will book a full tour. (Courtesy photo: Solid State Records.)
