Shoegaze pioneers to re-release ‘Loveless,’ ‘Isn’t Anything’ and more

My Bloody Valentine are making plans to reissue their complete back catalog on May 8, according to Pitchfork. The offering is set to include special, re-mastered editions of the shoegaze group’s seminal “Loveless” and “Isn’t Anything” albums, as well as a two-CD set that will pack a variety of the quartet’s EP releases, unreleased tracks and other goodies.

Both albums, first issued by Creation Records in Britian, were remastered by MBV brain Kevin Shields at London’s Metropolis Studios for release on Sony. “Isn’t Anything” is a straight reissue, while “Loveless” will come as a two-disc set including a never-before-released version of the album that Shields mastered from the original ½ inch analog tapes. The set, titled “EPs 1988-1991,” will brings together all four MBV EPs – “Feed Me With Your Kiss,” “You Made Me Realise,” “Glider” and “Tremolo” – as well as collection of rare tracks previously available only to peeps on eBay. Moreover, the order for the reissues of “Isn’t Anything” and both versions of “Loveless” will be untouched from their original versions. Check out the EP’s track listing, below.

My Bloody Valentine brought shoegaze to the forefront of alternative music in the ‘80s and ‘90s, influences a crop of bands along the way, most notably, Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins. The band got back together in 2007 and played their first gigs in 15 years. While they’ve played numerous shows since, as of right now, no new album is expected to come from the band. For now, fans will have to hold onto this back catalog set.
