Rockers Deftones and System of a Down team up for summer tour
It’s official: Deftones and System of a Down are going out on tour together this summer. The longstanding rock bands made the announcement today (April 23) and released nine upcoming tour dates, totaling a two-week summer tour. The trek launches off Aug. 2 in Philadelphia, Pa., and runs through August 15 in Chicago. No word yet as to whether more dates will be added, but we’re betting this isn’t the final tally. Find the full list of current tour dates, below.
This tour announcement is a good sign that Deftones are nearing completion on their seventh studio album. Frontman Chino Moreno and the guys are currently in Los Angeles, Calif., recording the album with mega-producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Alice in Chains), who also manned the knobs for the band’s last album, “Diamond Eyes.” The set will arrive on Reprise Records later in 2012. Meanwhile, System of a Down have been on hiatus, so these upcoming dates are great news for System fans waiting in the wings. System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has also announced plans to release his third solo, full-length album, “Harakiri,” sometime this summer on his own Serjical Strike Records and Reprise Records.
