‘Stadium Arcadium’ gets box set treatment for Record Store Day

It’s Record Store Day weekend! Plenty of rockers are getting in on the fun this year, including Red Hot Chili Peppers. Just one week after the Peppers got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the famed alternative funk-rock quartet will release a special, deluxe box set of the band’s first-ever No. 1 album, “Stadium Arcadium,” on Saturday (April 21) in conjunction with Record Store Day.

The deluxe package, which arrives in a 180 gram vinyl box set, was mastered for vinyl by Steve Hoffman and includes two 16-page booklets, “Jupiter” and “Mars.” The Peppers took home four Grammy Awards for “Stadium Arcadium,” including Best Rock Album, Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, the last two for their chart-topping, uber-catchy tune, “Dani California.” Needless to say, this is a blockbuster Peppers album.

The 5th annual Record Store Day promises to bring a celebration of all good things independent in the world of music. Each year, Record Store Day serves to pay tribute to the one-of-a-kind culture surrounding over 700 independently owned, brick-and-mortar record stores in the U.S., and hundreds of small stores internationally, via exclusive vinyl and CD releases and other promotional releases. Many artists have packaged special Record Store Day sets this year, available exclusively at local record shops across the country, including Metallica, Disturbed, Mastodon and tons more. In short, this is a day that all of the independently owned record stores join together with artists to celebrate the art of music.
