Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong set to appear on the new season of ‘The Voice’
It looks like pop-punk music will get its representation on NBC’s “The Voice” next season, as Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will be featured on the new season of the singing competition. According to a tweet Thursday night (July 26) via the show’s staff, Armstrong will serve as a mentor to pop singer Christina Aguilera’s team.
The tweet read, “Welcome Billie Joe (@BJAofficial) to #TeamXtina! We are ready to rock out in Season 3.” No word yet on when the Green Day singer will make his debut on the show, but the third season of “The Voice” is set to kick off Sept. 10.
As for the other mentors this season, Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas has already been confirmed to help with Cee Lo Green’s team, and R&B star Mary J. Blige will offer guidance to Adam Levine’s crew and Michael Buble mentors country star Blake Shelton’s team.
In other Green Day news, the band are prepping three album projects to release over the next six months. “¡Uno!” is scheduled to hit retail stores and online outlets on Sept. 25. The other two sets, “¡Dos!” and “¡Tré!” are scheduled to reach fans’ ears on Nov. 13, 2012 and Jan. 15, 2013, respectively.
