Kurt Cobain-decorated Melvins van for sale on eBay again

A grunge-inspired, 1972 Dodge Sportsman Royal van that was once used by the Melvins is up for sale on eBay, according to Rolling Stone. Anyone interested in purchasing the van better hurry, though. The van, which also features artwork by late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is for sale through Sunday (Aug. 26).

The Melvins drove the van from 1984-87, the same time when a budding Cobain was one of the band’s tour roadies.

This isn’t the first time the van has been up on eBay. Back in March, the van was listed for sale on eBay, but the bidding stuck at $99,999.99, and van owner Ben Berg refused to take less than $150,000. According to Berg, there was some question about the artwork’s authenticity during the first bidding round. Since then, Berg has received confirmation from original bassist Matt Lukin and former roadie Steve Shillinger that the mural, indeed, was sketched by Cobain.

Cobain painted the driver’s side of the van with an image of the cover of Kiss‘ 1974 self-titled album. According to Shillinger, Cobain also drove the fan on occasion. Berg claims the van still runs, even 40 years into its life. Berg received the van from Lukin’s mother, who knew he was a huge Melvins fan, when he was 16.

Update: The seller took the item off eBay prematurely today (Aug. 25). For more details, head to the item’s eBay page.
