Neon Trees booked for Dick Clark’s annual New Year’s Eve bash

New Year’s Eve is just about a month away, and Neon Trees already have their plans set. The Salt Lake City-based alternative pop-rockers are set to play Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve bash, which has lasted for over four decades. The special, named “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013,” will air Monday. Dec. 31, starting at 8 p.m. EST.

Neon Trees are the first rock-flavored group to be added to the bill, and the band is scheduled to perform live in New York’s Times Square alongside Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen, in conjunction with the East Coast segments of the night. Meanwhile, the West Coast party is set to feature performances by Pitbull, Flo Rida, Karmin, OneRepublic and Brandy. More performers for both coasts are expected to be announced soon.

This year’s telecast will open with a two-hour celebration of the life Dick Clark, who passed away earlier this year. That segment, billed “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Celebrates Dick Clark,” will be hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Fergie. Then, at 10 p.m., Ryan Seacrest will take over hosting duties in Times Square, and the show will go on for over five hours. Expect plenty of musical performances and, of course, the countdown to the ball dropping at midnight.
