Life is rarely easy for a teenager, and now, Atoms for Peace’s Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich want to help the adolescent bunch with growing pains. The two musicians recently checked in for Rookiemag.com’s “Ask a Grown Man” series, where they offered up advice and answered questions from teenagers about relationships and more.

What to do if you have a secret crush on someone? Yorke says to write a note to let your crush know how you feel. “If you have a crush on him,” he says, “if you’re really, really, really, really shy, which is what I was at that age…how about just write him a note?…Or throw him against the wall sometime.”

Yorke also talks about having a lazy eye growing up and how he got through the insecurity of having the condition. “I worked in this pub and this old woman — she was so funny — she used to come in all the time,” he explained. “And she was the first person who really said to me, ‘It’s the nicest thing about you.’ She was pissed at the time but I went with it.”

In other band news, Atoms for Peace — which also includes Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea — will perform at a variety of European music festivals this summer, followed by a North American trek. The North American tour will kick off Sept. 24 at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Penn. For a full list of tour dates, visit the band’s official website.
