Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic recently laid down bass lines for Modest Mouse’s upcoming, sixth studio album

In an interview with Spotify regarding Nirvana’s “In Utero” 20th anniversary reissue, Nirvana bass player Krist Novoselic revealed that he will appear on Modest Mouse’s upcoming sixth studio album playing bass.

“It’s pretty edgy,” Novoselic told Spotify of his contribution to Modest Mouse’s set. “I’ve got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out … this bass riff.”

Novoselic added that he used the same bass configuration on the Modest Mouse tune as he did when recording Foo Fighters’ “I Should Have Known” off the band’s 2011 release, “Wasting Light.” “I Should Have Known” brought Novoselic back together with Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and “Nevermind” producer Butch Vig for the first time since Nirvana’s fateful end.

Nirvana’s “In Utero” 20th anniversary reissue is available in a variety of packages, including the Super Deluxe Box Set, a three-LP Anniversary Edition, a two-CD Deluxe Edition and the standard “In Utero” CD. The Super Deluxe Box Set also features 70-plus remastered, remixed, rare and unreleased recordings, including B-sides, compilation tracks, never-before-heard demos and live material, in addition to a DVD of the band’s “Live and Loud” live performance at Seattle’s Pier 48 on December 13, 1993.
