Neil Young and the Promise of the Real will release a new album in June

Neil Young has wrapped up sessions for his new studio album, “The Monsanto Years,” and he recorded the full album with Promise of the Real, the group that features Willie Nelson’s sons, Lukas and Micah. The nine-song set will arrive on June 29.

This isn’t Young’s first time working with Promise of the Real. He performed with the band – who, I can say from experience, is incredible in concert – at a handful of shows before heading into the studio together. The chemistry worked, and now, Young has booked a North American tour with Promise of the Real.

The Rebel Content Tour will kick off July 5 at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and run through a July 24 show in Oro-Medonte, ON, Canada. Those who purchase tickets to the concerts (excluding the festival) will pick up a free copy of either the Monsanto Years CD/DVD package or a digital version of the album, their choice.

“The Monsanto Years” will arrive as a CD/DVD collection and as a standard-resolution and high-res digital download. For wax lovers, Young will release a vinyl version of the album in August. Those who pre-order the album now will pick up digital versions of two songs off the album: “Big Box” and “A Rock Star Bucks a Coffee Shop.”
