Shinedown’s single ‘How Did You Love’ just got the acoustic treatment

Shinedown’s latest single off “Threat to Survival” is a poignant balled called “How Did You Love.” “No one gets out alive, every day is do or die / The one thing you leave behind / Is how did you love, how did you love?” the lyrics ask. The song makes the point that love conquers all.

Now, Shinedown has released an acoustic version of “How Did You Love” via YouTube, and the new version really brings out Brent Smith’s vocals. Listen to the unplugged track below.

“How Did You Love,” the electric version, is currently inside the top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The song is Shinedown’s 22nd to fall inside the top 10 singles chart.

Shinedown are no stranger to going acoustic. Frontman Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers have an acoustic side project, Smith & Myers, and they’ve unleashed two EPs with the project, including covers of tunes by Metallica and Pearl Jam.

Next up, Shinedown will hit the European circuit this spring, serving as support for Iron Maiden. Before then, they have a one-off show Feb. 4 in Grand Rapids, Mich., which is already sold out.
