Christian hard rockers Skillet have put a new spin on their song “Stars” for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie “The Shack,” which will arrive Feb. 24.

The fresh version of “Stars” takes the hard-charging song in a more minimalist direction. Check it out via YouTube and below. The original version of “Stars” is one of the track’s on Skillet’s most recent album, “Unleashed.”

The film “The Shack” is based on the novel by the same name and features Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer and country singer Tim McGraw. The film reaches movie theaters March 3.

Skillet frontman John Cooper recently spoke with Audio Ink Radio about the band’s single, “Feel Invincible.” Of the track, he said, “I wanted to write a song about finding that one thing that when you wake up in the morning with all the terrible things in the world – and you can’t escape it with the violence and racial tension and terrorism – that this person or thing makes you feel strong and face the world.”

Skillet return to the road in early February with a gig Feb. 8 in Clifton Park, N.Y.  They’ll stay on the road through much of this spring. For information on tour dates, head to Skillet.com.
