Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses Supergroup the Levee Walkers Unveil New Song

Story by Charles Ken

The Levee Walkers, the new super group featuring Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Guns N’ Roses bass player Duff McKagan and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, has debuted a new song. The track – a groovy, mellow-sounding rock ballad – is streaming now via RollingStone.com.

Ayron Jones, a new Seattle musician, provides vocals for the track. McKagan says he recently saw Jones in concert and was blown away. “I went to a show of his last year in Seattle, and it was one of those that just simply made me realize how glad I am that I chose music as a path,” McKagan told Rolling Stone of Jones. “Mike and Barrett are, of course, the best at what they do as well. I’m a proud Walker of Levees!”

“All Things Fade Away” marks the third song released from the Levee Walkers. Last year, the group released “Freedom Song” and “Songs for the West,” both of which also had guest vocalists.

This isn’t the first time McCready, McKagan and Martin have made music together. McCready and Martin were together in Mad Season, and all three were members of the band Walking Papers.

McCready, McKagan and Martin also performed together in 2015 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mad Season’s singular album, 1995’s “Above.” Late Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog vocalist Chris Cornell sang lead vocals at that show.

“All Things Fade Away,” along with another new track called “Madness,” will be available for purchase Friday (Nov. 3) both digitally and as a seven-inch vinyl record.
