Good Charlotte’s ‘Generation Rx’ is ‘the album we’ve been waiting 15 years to create,’ says the Madden brothers

Just a few days after announcing their partnership with record label BMG, the guys of Good Charlotte have unveiled full details about their upcoming album. Benji and Joel Madden will release their seventh studio album, titled “Generation Rx,” on Sept. 14. The album is Good Charlotte’s first with the recently announced partnership between BMG and the band’s MDDN record label.

The band – which features Joel on vocals, Benji on guitars and vocals, Billy Martin on guitar, Paul Thomas on bass and Dean Butterworth on drums — promises that “Generation Rx” will be fueled with “anthems of hope for a generation under the shadow of the Opioid epidemic, icons gone too soon, mass tragedy, loneliness and confusion,” according to an official statement.

“At the beginning of the year, we were reflecting a lot,” Joel and Benji said in a statement. “We just played a memorial service in honor of Lil Peep. We were thinking of that. Our generation was the first to have so many ways to deal with pain. Throughout this century, we’ve seen the whole opioid crisis get worse. We wondered if we were really doing our part. We wanted to bet back out there on the battlefield and spread insight, share experience and give anything we could to improve lives.”

The brothers added, “The message is you can get through the pain, survive it and have the life you want. We made the record on our own terms and our own time. In that respect, we channeled the soul of our first two albums. This is the album we’ve been waiting 15 years to create.”

Good Charlotte has also released the album’s lead single, “Actual Pain.” The track is available to stream and download on all the main digital platforms and can be streamed below.

In other news, Good Charlotte has also announced a round of European tour dates to support “Generation Rx.” The guys have a handful of summer festival dates booked, as well, and North American tour dates are expected to be on the way. Find the band’s tour roster on their official website.
