Jason Momoa is a self-proclaimed metalhead and recently got to meet some of his childhood idols, Slayer and Anthrax

Aquaman and Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa, as it turns out, is a major fan of metal music. In fact, one of his dreams was to meet the guys of Slayer and Anthrax, which just happened.

Momoa attended the two thrash bands’ shows in Budapest this week, and the actor, who was on location filming the Dune remake, was able to meet members of both metal groups backstage. He was so excited that he even posted photos on his Instagram account.

“Love metal so much fire it was one of the greatest shows of my life childhood dream,” Momoa wrote in the caption on Instagram. “My mind was blown. Meeting your idols and they’re … amazing. So thankful so grateful.”

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante was also stoked to meet Momoa. Benante posted a photo on Instagram of him posing with Momoa and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. “When #KhalDrogo comes to your show you immediately go into @gameofthrones talk!” he stated in the caption.

It’s no secret that Momoa is a longtime metalhead. In the past, he has stated that his popular performance of Aquaman was influenced by Metallica, Black Sabbath and Tool.

Slayer was in Budapest continuing on their world farewell tour, which will keep the guys performing in Europe throughout the summer. Slayer will return to the U.S. in September for a headlining performance at Chicago’s Riot Fest.
