Radiohead offer up two fresh songs from The King of Limbs sessions

Radiohead fans should set their alarm clocks to get up early this coming Monday (Dec. 19), as the band have announced they will release two fresh songs that morning: “The Daily Mail” and “Staircase.” As reported by At Ease, the tracks, which were taped during studio sessions for the group’s latest album, The King of Limbs, will be available via the music streaming service Deezer starting next Monday. Let the countdown begin.

“The Daily Mail” and “Staircase” aren’t completely new to fans’ ears, in that both of the unreleased songs were played on the band’s From the Basement live session with longstanding producer and collaborator Nigel Godrich. The show, which had the guys playing The King of Limbs from front to back, will arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray Dec. 19. That’s just in time for the Radiohead enthusiast on your Christmas list.

Radiohead are long known for releasing new material online, cutting out the middle man of a label and the traditional methods of getting music out. Last month, two previously unheard Radiohead demos surfaced online, “Everybody Knows” and “Girl (In the Purple Dress),” which were taped when the group was stilling going by the moniker, On a Friday, before guitarist Jonny Greenwood joined the band. That goes way back. As for a proper Radiohead album, lead singer Thom Yorke has already announced that the group are scheduled to start sessions on a new LP in their Oxford studio this month and hope to have something out early next year. Radiohead have also made plans to tour North America in February and March of 2012, much to the delight of alternative-minded music fans in the States, and find a full list of tour dates, here.
