Foo Fighters singer has recorded a song with members of ’80s hair metal band Ratt
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has an unlikely collaboration going on behind closed doors. The grunge rock drummer, singer and songwriter just wrapped up recording a new song with Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini. Yes, you read that correctly: Grohl is rocking out with members of the iconic 1980s hair metal band!
According to Blabbermouth, the new song is for a new Grohl-headed project, not a Ratt album. Pearcy explains, “Warren and I are recording an original song for a project for Dave. He’s way cool and we’re ready to go next week. . . We’ll let [Dave] tell you about when he’s ready, kidz. [It’s not a track] for a Ratt record.”
Pearcy’s new solo album, “Sucker Punch,” is set to drop later this year. Last year, the singer and Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer broke the news that the ‘80s hair metal band was writing and plans to put out a new album in 2012.
Grohl is no stranger to supergroups and side projects. He’s played live and on studio recordings from psychedelic metal band Queens of the Stone Age, and Grohl also formed alternative-classic rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures in 2009 along with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. As for his work with Foo Fighters, Grohl recently announced he’d be writing songs for the band’s upcoming eighth studio album this year.
