Metallica’s debut music and arts festival will feature guitarist Kirk Hammett’s collection of horror film memorabilia

The latest addition to Metallica’s debut annual music, arts and lifestyle festival — Orion Music + More — offers something for horror movie lovers out there. In a new video interview posted by the festival, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett dropped the news that in addition to music and arts, the festival will also feature an exhibit commemorating classic horror films.

“Kirk’s Crypt” will feature Hammett’s private collection of quirky horror movie memorabilia, posters, toys, comics and scary props, among other random, terrifying items. The guitarist has collected horror items since he was six years old, so he has plenty of items to show off at the festival, which takes place June 23-24 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, N.J.

“I’m going to be picking out certain pieces that I think are representative of what my collection is all about, so there will be a huge cross selection of things,” Hammett said. “I would like to think that people would recognize the cultural significance of this stuff and I hope that it attracts people who are just like-minded and share similar passions.

“I hope they can come in to my little zone and if they really dig this stuff, really have good time checking it out and seeing everything and interacting with all this stuff.” Watch Hammett’s full chat, below.

Orion Music + More’s lineup features a wide range of genres, from country to heavy metal to punk. Acts confirmed for the inaugural festival include Metallica, Eric Church, the Jim Breuer Heavy Metal Comedy Tour, Soul Rebels, Sepultura, Torche, Red Fang, Kyng, Landmine Marathon, Black Tusk, Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, the Gaslight Anthem, Cage the Elephant, Best Coast, Roky Erickson, the Sword, A Place to Bury Strangers, Liturgy and others.
