Deftones to Release Rare Vinyl Collection, Only 1,000 Copies Available
Deftones set will feature seven albums, including Record Store Day release
Deftones were one of a handful of groups to first blend relentless riffing and screamed vocal lines with more delicate music and whispered singing, creating a completely novel hard rock sound. The Sacramento, Calif.-based alternative metal band will celebrate that trajectory with a limited edition vinyl box set, out Oct. 25 on Reprise Records.
Deftones: The Vinyl Collection, 1995 – 2011, will be available exclusively from the Deftones’ official website and Because Sound Matters. What kind of melodic metal mania should fans expect? Try a seven-album (8 LP) reflective packing the outfit’s six studio releases — 1995’s Adrenaline, 1997’s Around the Fur, 2000’s White Pony, 2003’s Deftones, 2006’s Saturday Night Wrist and 2010’s Diamond Eyes — plus the rare 2011 Record Store Day album, Covers.
Each record has been re-cut for vinyl from the initial master recordings and pressed on 180-gram European virgin vinyl. The set, which features a stunning lithograph and cover art, arrives enveloped in a hand numbered collector’s box pressing of only 1,000 copies worldwide.
Yes, you read that right: The guys are only pressing 1,000 copies of the set. Compare that to Nirvana’s recent “super deluxe” re-edition of Nevermind, which had 10,000 copies pressed in the U.S. and 30,000 for the rest of the world. True Deftones fans will lap up this 1,000 copy collection in no time. For more information on Deftones: The Vinyl Collection, 1995 – 2011, check out the Deftones’ official website.
