Linkin Park Become First Rock Band to Hit One Billion YouTube Views
Linkin Park have reached over one billion views on their official YouTube channel
Linkin Park have proudly snagged a new first in the rock music genre. Singer Chester Bennington, multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda and company have become the first rock artist to reach over one billion hits on their official YouTube channel, LinkinParkTV. Thus far, the most popular video on their channel is the clip for the band’s 2009 hit single, “New Divide,” off the “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” soundtrack, counting over 131 million views. There’s some proof this band of rap-rockers are going strong over a decade after releasing their debut.
Right behind Linkin Park are the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The California funk-rockers have scored the second-highest number of views on their official YouTube channel, RCHPTv, raking in 327 million views. Coming in at No. 3 is pop-punk trio Green Day with 245 million views on their channel.
In other Linkin Park news, the guys recently wrapped up the 2012 Honda Civic Tour, which they co-headlined with fellow alternative rockers Incubus. The guys have been out promoting their latest album, “Living Things,” and Shinoda says the release represents how comfortable Linkin Park are in their career right now. “[We] looked back and realized we were comfortable with the whole journey maybe for the first time ever,” Shinoda told the Southtown Sun. “… It’s frankly the most energetic thing we put together in the last few years.” (Photo credit: Anne Erickson.)
