The MTV Europe Music Awards’ list of 2012 nominees include a plethora of rock and alternative acts

The votes are in, and the nominees for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards include a long list of alternative and rock acts. Leading the pack is New York City-based alternative indie act fun., toting three nominations in Best Song for “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monáe, Best New and Best Push. The band’s album, “Some Nights,” is currently out via Fueled by Ramen records.

Fun. aren’t alone in their honors. Green Day and Muse each picked up two nominations and will be fighting it out in both the Best Live and Best Rock categories. Detroit native Jack White also snagged two nominations– one for Best Look and the other for Best Alternative. Other acts nominated include Arctic Monkeys, the Black Keys and Florence + the Machine. Nominees for the Best World Stage category include quite a few rockers, to boot: Evanescence, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol.

Say you want to get your two cents in on who takes home the awards? Fans can head over to MTVEMA.com and vote for their favorite artists. MTV has the site set up so that the more a fan interacts with the website, the more points they earn, and the better chance they have to see their artist win top honors.
