Foo Fighters’ new track sprung inside the iTunes song chart’s Top 15 in less than 24 hours

One day, Foo Fighters seemed to be silently working on their new record, and the next, we suddenly have a new Foo Fighters track.

The Dave Grohl-fronted band surprisingly unleashed a new song, “Run,” last week, and the track has the Foos’ characteristic mix of melody and straight-ahead rock vibes. The song is already proving to be one of the band’s most popular.

In the initial 24 hours after its release, “Run” quickly sprung to the Top 15 of the iTunes song chart. Listen to the track here.

The music video for “Run,” which Grohl directed, features the band made up to look much older than they are, performing at a show that ends up a riot at a nursing home. In less than 24 hours, the video hit the Top 5 on the iTunes video chart.

“Run” marks Foo Fighters’ first bit of new music since releasing their 2015 “Saint Cecilia EP.”

In other news, Foo Fighters are working on a new album. No word yet on when the full set will arrive, but the fact there’s already a new song out is a good sign it won’t be too long.

Foo Fighters brings together Grohl with longtime members Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.
