Fans of prog-rock band Tool have some good news: Maynard James Keenan has wrapped up vocals for a new album

It’s the news Tool fans have been waiting to hear from the band for years: Maynard James Keenan has finished recording his vocals for Tool’s much-anticipated fifth studio album. Keenan broke the good news in a tweet today (Jan. 4), also stating that his other band, Puscifer, will release a bevy of new material in 2020.

Keenan tweeted, “Update- Final vocals tracked MONTHS ago. Then U.S.-UK-Euro run w #APC. If Tool all inst are tracked, long process of Mixing now. Meanwhile write/film/track w @puscifer for #puscifer2020 & troll the band FBs with wine posts. #funnys— #whileyouwerewhiningiwasworking”

Keenan told Tool fans that the band would deliver new music in 2019 while taking the Icon Award at the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods, but fans have gotten their hopes up before, so it feels great to get more confirmation from the frontman. Although there is no specific release date yet, Keenan’s tweet is another major sign that the band will deliver on its promise.

Tool’s upcoming album will mark their follow-up to 2006’s “10,000 Days.” Keenan’s other band, A Perfect Circle, released a new album last year, called “Eat the Elephant.”
