Bret Michaels Getting Humanitarian of the Year Award at Hollywood Christmas Parade

Poison singer Bret Michaels will get a special award for his charity works at the 2019 Hollywood Christmas Parade

Bret Michaels is set to rock the 2019 Hollywood Christmas Parade tomorrow (Dec. 1), and he’s not only performing. The Poison singer will also pick up an award for his charity efforts during the holidays.

Michaels will receive the Humanitarian of the Year award at the parade in honor of his charitable works, such as putting together a trip to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico in December to give supplies and toys to people impacted by recent hurricanes in that area.

“Michaels’ relentless effort to give back is why we chose to recognize him for this year’s award,” Sharratt MacEachern, the Hollywood Christmas Parade’s co-executive producer, said in a statement. “He is continuously looking for opportunities to help others, so in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in September, he knew he needed to do something to help.”

MacEachern added, “At his own expense, Michaels will take his own plane to drop-off much needed supplies and toys to people of the Bahamas and Puerto Rico…This giving spirit is another example of why the Hollywood Christmas Parade recognized Michaels with the Humanitarian of the Year award.”

In addition to Michaels, the lineup for the parade also features Dionne Warwick, the holiday group Band of MerryMakers, country singer Phil Vassar and more. Those who can’t make it to the festivities may watch a two-hour TV special featuring highlights from the Hollywood Christmas Parade airing Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on The CW.
