U.K.’s Download Festival Canceled Due to Coronavirus

KISS was among the headliners set to perform at the U.K.’s Download Festival 2020. The event has been canceled due to COVID-19

Many major music festivals across the world are canceling or postponing their 2020 editions due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and now, the biggest hard rock and heavy metal festival in the U.K. is following suit.

The U.K.’s Download Festival has officially been canceled because of concerns over COVID-19. The event was scheduled to happen from June 12 through 14 at England’s Donington Park. This year’s headliners were set to feature KISS, Iron Maiden and System of a Down, with additional performances from Deftones, Alter Bridge, Korn, Disturbed, Mastodon, Volbeat, the Offspring and many more.

“We’ve been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation and it’s become clear that it just isn’t possible for the 2020 festival to go ahead,” Download organizers say in a statement.

They added, “This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and we’re beyond disappointed, we extend our heartfelt apologies to all of you — we really did try to make this work.”

Those who already purchased a ticket to Download will be able to receive a full refund at their point of purchase or save their for Download 2021.
