Daughtry, Nickelback, Filter to Appear on ZZ Top Tribute Album
Everyone loves ZZ Top, including the guys of Daughtry and Nickelback
Modern rock guys Filter, Coheed & Cambria and Daughtry hold major reverence for the blues traditions of ZZ Top, and they’re taking that inspiration and packing into into a new tribute album dedicated to the greatest songs from ‘That Little Ol’ Band from Texas.’
A Tribute from Friends, due out October 11, features 10 newly recorded songs from various artists, specifically for the project. The tracks include Filter covering “Gimmie All Your Lovin’,” Mastadon’s version of “Just Got Paid,” Daughtry’s spin on “Waitin’ for the Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago,” Duff McKagan’s Loaded doing “Got Me Under Pressure” and more. It’s a diverse mix of artists that will surely prove an interesting listen.
When the guys got the news, they responded humbly, and with a bit of humor: “When we were told there was going to be a ZZ Top tribute album a while ago and logically asked, ‘Who are we paying tribute to?’ Then we found out that a bunch of great artists were paying tribute to us and we were in disbelief,” they said in a statement.
A Tribute from Friends Track Listing:
1. “Sharp Dressed Man” – The M.O.B. (Mick Fleetwood, Steven Tyler, Jonny Lang & John McVie)
2. “Gimme All Your Lovin’” – Filter
3. “Tush” – Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
