Beck Writing New Album

Story by Cat Badra
Beck is working on new music
Beck is proving that he certainly isn’t a “Loser” when it comes to the drive to produce new creative projects. Earlier this year, the famed singer and guitarist dropped the news that he was putting together a book of sheet music, “Beck Hansen’s Song Reader,” which would make up his next official release, and now, Beck has announced that he’s writing his next full-length album.
In an interview with Australian radio station Triple J, Beck explained that he’s actually been pining away on the upcoming album for several years. He’s planning to release the songs in a “pretty much standard format” sometime soon, before the songs age too much.
“I started a record, largely recorded in 2008, so I’m trying to carve out some time from all the production work I’m doing to finish those songs before they become records from a lost era,” he said. “It’s going on a half decade at this point.”
Since the new set won’t be out by Christmas, those who have a Beck fan on their Christmas list might want to take a look at “Beck Hansen’s Song Reader,” which will arrive on Dec. 7. As for what to expect from the release, the 108-page book offers sheet music for twenty new songs, original drawings from a variety of artists and more goodies.
