Lady Gaga and Anthrax? Scott Ian would like to see that happen

Remember when Metallica collaborated with Lady Gaga at the 2017 Grammy Awards? Well, Scott Ian of Anthrax took note and, apparently, is a big fan, as well.

Speaking in Paris with France’s Duke TV, Ian explained that he has admired Gaga since her early days.

“I’ve said since the first time I ever heard her voice, I thought…I would really love to hear her sing on a rock record, metal record, whatever,” he said.

Ian added that he and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante have both become friends with Gag and that “she’s a metalhead.”

Ian added that he would absolutely be open to a collaboration.

“Yes, we would love to work with Lady Gaga,” he said. “I think we put that out there a while ago, and then when we found out she was doing the Grammys with Metallica, it was like, ‘Wow, makes sense.’”

He continued, “We would certainly love to write a song together, or a whole album.  Let us be your backing band, Lady Gaga! We could make beautiful music together.”

Ian also added that he’s always fantasized about performing rhythm guitar in AC/DC, even just one time.

From there, the conversation turned to metal. Ian says Anthrax along with contemporaries Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth are “still carrying the torch” of ’80s metal. That’s why they call them the “Big Four,” right?
