Stone Temple Pilots’ ‘Meadow’ is the Band’s First Song with New Singer Jeff Gutt

Story by Cat Badra
Stone Temple Pilots performed a special concert at the Troubador in Los Angeles Tuesday night (Nov. 14) where they officially announced their new lead singer, “The X Factor” contestant Jeff Gutt, reports Variety.
Gutt, who hails from Detroit, has a light, bright-sounding tenor with a style much like that of the band’s late frontman, Scott Weiland. Listen to the band’s first song with Gutt on vocals, “Meadow,” below.
Gutt was a runner-up on season three of “The X Factor.” He auditioned for Stone Temple Pilots last fall and was highly rumored to be their new vocalist. He officially became the group’s new vocalist in May, but the band kept it under wraps until now. Meanwhile, Gutt has been working on new music with Stone Temple Pilots band mates Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz in Redondo Beach, California.
Founding Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland passed away in December of 2015, following many years of drug addiction. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park replaced Weiland from 2013 to 2015. Bennington ended his own life earlier this year.
This week’s show marked Stone Temple Pilots’ first gig together since March of 2016.
