Deep Purple has completed work on the band’s 21st studio album, “Whoosh!” The album will hit stores this summer

Ian Gillan and the guys of Deep Purple have dropped the news that the longstanding hard rock band’s new album — titled “Whoosh!” — is finished and will arrive this summer.

The record, which marks the band’s follow-up to 2017’s InFinite, will arrive on June 12. “Whoosh!” was recorded by longtime producer Bob Ezrin and marks Deep Purple’s 21st studio album.

In a statement, Deep Purple says the band “stretched out in all directions” while writing and recording “Whoosh!” The album has the band “voicing their resentment about the current situation of the world and addressing all generations.”

“We’ve included everything that made the whole band smile, including Bob Ezrin,” guitarist Steve Morse said of “Whoosh!” “We’ve always enjoyed making music and having the incredible luxury of a loyal audience.”

In other news, Deep Purple has a handful of tour dates on the way, kicking off with a March 14 appearance at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest in Mexico City. Right now, most of Deep Purple’s upcoming tour dates are in Europe, but they’re expected to announced some North American tour dates, as well.
