‘Persistence of Time’ will get the special edition treatment from Anthrax, in honor of the record’s 30th birthday
Anthrax is coming up on the 30th anniversary of their seminal 1990 “Persistence of Time” album, and in honor, the metal veterans are releasing a special, deluxe edition of the album.
The package will be released on Aug. 21, which is appropriately 30 years after the original “Persistence of Time” first came out. The deluxe edition will arrive in a range of different formats, including a three-CD set consisting of the original album remastered, a collection of rare demos and live tracks and a DVD chronicling Anthrax’s 1991 tour with Iron Maiden. Another version of the edition will also offer a four-LP vinyl package.
“We put a lot of work into Persistence of Time,” guitarist Scott Ian states in the “Persistence of Time” deluxe edition liner notes. “We pushed ourselves harder, self-analyzed, criticized, and agonized more than any of the previous records, and we were really proud of it.”
Anthrax’s latest album is 2016’s “For All Kings.” The band is currently working on the follow-up to the record.
In other band news, Anthrax recently announced a new line of merchandise, “The Quarantine Drop,” featuring two limited edition T-shirts, with a portion of all proceeds going to to Direct Relief, an organization that helps equip doctors and nurses in more than 80 countries and 50 U.S. states with life-saving medial resources to care for the world’s most vulnerable people.
