Saliva, Puddle of Mudd, Wayne Static and More to Play Rockapalooza
5th annual Jackson, Mich.-based music festival announces 2012 lineup
Can this summer get any more packed with rock festivals and shows? The answer is, “Of course!” Rockapalooza has unveiled its 2012 lineup, and the annual concert offers over 40 bands all rocking one big night in Jackson, Mich., this June.
Post-grunge band Puddle of Mudd will headline the show, with other main stage players including Saliva, We Came As Romans, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Rehab and Emphatic. Wayne Static (of Static-X), Woe Is Me, Riven (Formerly Motograter), Rotation, Sore Eyes and Ghosts of August will rock the second stage. Other bands slated to perform include Bobaflex, It Lies Within, Blackened Earth, Hollow Drive, Circus Asylum, Beyond the Shadows and more.
Main stage performer Wayne Static released his debut solo album, “Pighammer,” last fall, and the musical set brings all things heavy and electronic, with riffs that groove and grind. Static recently chatted exclusively with Audio Ink about the style of the new album. “There are always two aspects of it. Musically, I always draw from the same types of things,” Static said. “I’m inspired by really cool grooves and drum beats and loops and draw upon that. Lyrically, it’s generally what’s going on in my life at the time, and this record is about transition and going on as a solo artist and starting a record label. My wife and I moved to the desert together and spent some time getting off drugs and cleaning up, and the record deals with all of that stuff.”
The 5th annual Rockapalooza happens at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Mich., on Saturday, June 23. Advanced tickets run $30, while tickets will rise to $35 the day of the show. All children under the age of 10 are admitted free and the event is for all ages.
The festival will also present a pre-party concert on Friday, June 22, at the fairgrounds featuring headliners Trapt and openers Sore Eyes. The Friday free concert is for all ages. For more information on Rockapalooza, please visit the festival’s official website.
