Former Screaming Trees Singer Mark Lanegan Books North American Tour
Mark Lanegan Band books North American tour stops
Mark Lanegan’s latest full-length, 2012’s “Blues Funeral,” is a cornucopia of atmospheric textures, synthpop influences and harmonic lyricism, brought together by Lanegan’s powerful, smoky vocals. Now, the former Screaming Trees grunge singer is taking that sound on the road for a run of North American shows. The tour — which follows Lanegan’s recent sold-out shows in New York City and Los Angeles — includes a stop at this year’s Sasquatch! Festival on Memorial Day Weekend. The complete list of tour dates are below.
The Mark Lanegan Band’s rock and roll journey will set off May 10 in New York City and travel through a dozen towns including Chicago, Detroit, Toronto and Los Angeles before wrapping May 27 in Portland, Ore. Check out the complete tour roster below. Aside from the stateside shows, Lanegan has plans to tour Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and beyond. It’s going to be a demanding 2012 for Lanegan and his crew, to say the least.
“Blues Funeral” dropped Feb. 7 in the U.S. and debuted at No. 99 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it Lanegan’s first solo release to enter the top 200. The collection also reached No. 15 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. The 12-track disc is Lanegan’s first album since 2004’s “Bubblegum” and the seventh studio album in his repertoire. Aside from Screaming Trees, Lanegan is also known for his work in Queens of the Stone Age and Mad Season.
