Aerosmith Hint at Tour Announcement Coming Next Week
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler hints at tour announcement coming soon
Rumors have been circulating for days that the rock men of Aerosmith would announce their upcoming, North American tour this week. As of today (March 23), no official dates from the Aerosmith camp have surfaced, but we do have some promising news from frontman Steven Tyler on the matter.
Earlier today, the “American Idol” judge sent a dramatic, caps-locked tweet hinting at a “big announcement” next week: “OK… NXT WEDNESDAY (((HUMP DAY)))…SEE U AT THE GROVE LA??? … SUMTHIN BIG GOING DOWN!!!…MEET ME AT THE FOUNTAIN…1130???”
The band also went to Facebook to send fans a semi-cryptic statement regarding touring plans in the works: “Hey – something’s going on big at The Grove in Los Angeles. Be at the fountain near the patch of grass, Wednesday, March 28th promptly at 12 PM. This is YOUR chance to see Aerosmith and a whole lot more!”
So, next Wednesday it is. Until then, fans can check out the small handful of dates the guys have already announced, including July 10 in Laval, Quebec, at “Mondial Loto” and July 14 in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, at the “Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.”
Aerosmith are currently working on their first album of originals since 2004’s “Honkin’ on Bobo.” To roll tape, the guys hit up producer Jack Douglas, who worked with them on young albums in their discography, such as “Rocks” and “Toys in the Attic,” and the resulting effort is expected to drop later this year. Aerosmith are also working on a new version of their 1991 track “Legendary Child” to appear in the film, “GI Joe: Retaliation,” which hits theaters this June.
