Twin U.K. festivals offer a mix of homegrown talent and artists for abroad

Foo Fighters, Paramore, the Black Keys, Foster the People, Florence + the Machine, the Cure, the Shins, Kasabin and more have been confirmed to play the Reading and Leeds festivals this year, according to UK promoter Festival Republic. The duel three-day, seven-stage festivals, scheduled for August 24 through 26, will also feature a crop of electronic and hip-hop acts, including Justice, Odd Future and rap newbie Azealia Banks.

Reading kicked off way back in 1961, first in the form of the U.K.’s National Jazz Festival. Leeds entered the picture as a sister event in 1999, and since Leeds has joined the game, the two sites have united lineups with alternating acts between the two sets of stages over the festival’s three days. The lineup which as announced this week is only an initial announcement, and the promo poster promises “many more” will be announced before the show sets off.

In addition to the two festivals’ headliners, Festival Republic has announced a wide variety of supporting bands, from indie-flavored kids to metal men, and the lineups are divided between homegrown, U.K. talent and acts from the U.S. Confirmed acts include Mystery Jets, All Time Low, Bullet for My Valentine, Crystal Castles, You Me at Six, the Vaccines, the Gaslight Anthem, Band of Skulls, Eagles of Death Metal, Billy Talent, At the Drive-In, Bombay Bicycle Club and more. For the complete lineup (thus far) and information on how to get tickets, please visit the Reading and Leeds festivals’ official website.
