‘Ready to Go’ features Limp Bizkit and Lil Wayne collaboration
Last week, we dropped the news that Limp Bizkit were joining the Cash Money Records roster, alongside rap artists such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Bow Wow, Drake and founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams. The latest on this rap-rock sortie is that Limp Bizkit will drop their new single, called “Ready to Go,” which is a collaborative effort with Lil Wayne, next week. The Bizkit with Lil Wayne? This we must to hear.
“Ready to Go” is the first track Limp Bizkit have released since inking to Cash Money. Label founder Birdman says signing Fred Durst and company was an easy decision. “It’ll be a great way to let the world know that [the band] is a part of us,” Williams told Billboard. “It’s rock, but it’s hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger.”
Limp Bizkit are likely best known for their ‘90s rap-rock chart-toppers “Nookie,” “Break Stuff” and “Rollin’,” and Williams says he still sees promise in the band. “If we find some great talent, we’re gonna embrace it,” he said. “Limp Bizkit, to me, is just a perfect match for us… It was something that [Durst] was interested in doing, and I was already a fan, and I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’ It’s good for the brand, it will bring a different look for us, and we’re definitely trying to expand on that side of music.”
Limp Bizkit are currently on the road in Australia to promote their 2011 studio release, “Gold Cobra,” with original guitarist Wes Borland back in the fold. After the band’s March tour wraps, Williams says the band will return to the U.S. and start recording their first Cash Money album.
