Rob Zombie and friends will enter the studio in June

Metal man Rob Zombie has announced that he along with his band of John 5, Piggy D and Ginger Fish will begin recording sessions for their new studio album on June 1. This new disc is expected to arrive in late 2012. No word on whether the set will come out around Halloween, but considering Zombie’s lengthy history in the horror film business, all things are possible.

Zombie says he’s been working on loads of songs over the years, and he’s itching to get them on tape. “It has been way, and I mean way too long without any new music. I am dying to get back to it,” Zombie said to the press. “I have not felt this much excitement within the band since recording the first ‘Hellbilly Deluxe’ record almost 15 years ago. We have been working on tons of songs for quite some time and I can safely say this will definitely be our best record yet.”

Before the recording pow-wow kicks off, Zombie and his band will hit the road on a co-headlining tour with Megadeth. It will be the first time the two heavy music-makers have toured together since the early ‘90s. “This tour should be a blast,” Zombie said. “I haven’t shared a bill with Megadeth since way back in the early days of White Zombie, so this trek is long overdue.”

The Rob Zombie, Megadeth tour kicks off May 11, in Holmdel, N.J., and closes out May 26 at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Okla. The trek also includes a stop at Rock on the Range on May 20 in Columbus, Ohio, where Zombie will co-headline with Incubus.
