Rap-rockers offer free track, ‘Eyez,’ off upcoming full-length, ‘Murdered Love’
Christian rap-rockers P.O.D. (Payable on Death) have wrapped recording sessions for their first studio release in four years, “Murdered Love,” set to arrive on Razor & Tie this summer. To get fans stoked for the release, the reggae guys are offering their new single, “Eyez,” as a free download on their official website.
Fans that submit their email addresses, “like” the band on Facebook or tweet about the track will score a free download of “Eyez,” which features guest vocals by always-entertaining Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta.
Frontman Sonny Sandoval says “Eyez” is a perfect snapshot of what’s ahead for P.O.D. “‘Eyez’ is the first ‘look’ from our new album coming out this summer,” he said in a statement. “We wanted to come out hard for all our die-hard warriors.”
Producer Howard Benson, who also worked on the band’s chart-topping “Satellite” release, manned the knobs for “Murdered Love,” and Sandoval told Audio Ink Radio that things felt plain natural with Benson in the studio. “ …We came up with Howard, so he knows how we work,” he said. “We got a hold of him before he became this big-time, superstar rock producer, so we have that old-school relationship where we can be honest. He lets us do what we want to do… I know he’s really excited about this record.”
P.O.D. will kick off a series of co-headlining tour dates with fellow Christian heavy music makers RED on April 28 in Tampa, Fla. That tour also features former Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch’s band Love & Death and rockers Icon for Hire as supporting acts.
