Soundgarden Release Full Version of New Song, ‘Live to Rise’
Soundgarden’s first song in 15 years gets proper release
As reported last week, Soundgarden posted a 22-second snippet from the band’s new single, “Live to Rise,” which will appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming flick “The Avengers,” plus be played during the final credits in the film. Now, frontman Chris Cornell and Soundgarden have released the entire song for fans’ listening pleasure. Check out the radio single via Seattle rock station KISW. The unedited version will be available on iTunes April 17.
The four-minute long track is Soundgarden’s first release in 15 years. Soundgarden are currently working on their upcoming, sixth studio album, which will be the follow-up to 1996’s “Down on the Upside.” The grunge guys reunited in 2010, 12 years after they broke up. Meanwhile, frontman Chris Cornell is playing a handful of solo tour dates in Europe this year.
In addition to Soundgarden’s “Live to Rise,” the soundtrack for “The Avengers” will also offer tracks from rockers Shinedown, Evanescence, Papa Roach, Bush, Rise Against, Theory of a Deadman, Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, Redlight King, Buckcherry, Five Finger Death Punch, Black Veil Brides and more. The soundtrack will be released on May 1, and “The Avengers” reaches theaters on May 4. The show stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson.
