Summerfest 2012 Adds 311, Young the Giant, ZZ Top and More to Bill
Summer is on the way, and when music lovers think of summertime, one thing comes to mind: summer festivals! In that spirit, the 45th annual Summerfest rings in this year, and organizers keep announcing new acts to the already packed lineup. Alternative rock legends Foo Fighters have just been added to the 2012 roster. The schedule already includes Young the Giant, 311, ZZ Top, O.A.R., Cake, MuteMath, Awolnation, Common, the Steve Mill Band and more.
Other groups recently added to Summerfest include the Roots, the Hives, Ben Folds Five, Fountains of Wayne, David Gray, Chicago, Kool & the Gang and Paul Oakenfold, Thievery Corporation and Burton Cummings, among others. Summerfest happens June 27 through July 1 and July 3 through 8 in Milwaukee, Wis. Exact dates, times and locations for each band’s performance will be announced shortly.
With this year marking Summerfest’s 45th, the festival plans to deliver an even bigger bang than usual. Billed “the world’s largest music festival,” the 11-day festival attracts over 700 bands and artists each year, both rock veterans and up-and-comers, and “hosts a diverse selection of food and beverage vendors, marketplaces and interactive exhibits set against the Lake Michigan and downtown backdrops,” according to an official statement, offering a very unique festival experience.
