Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Performed at Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg’s Wedding
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg tapped Green Day singer for wedding duties
So who did one of the riches, hippest guys in America call on to perform at his once-in-a-lifetime wedding? Apparently, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg tapped none other than Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong to provide the entertainment for his wedding, which took place last weekend.
According to People magazine, Billie Joe rocked out at the ceremony last Saturday (May 19) at Zuckerberg’s home in Palo Alto, Calif. A source stated that Zuckerberg and Billie Joe have been good buddies “for some time,” so the pick was inevitable, also claiming that the alternative rocker “wasn’t paid. It was a total impromptu wedding present for a friend.” We think that makes for a pretty killer wedding gift.
Zuckerberg walked down the aisle with his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chan. The couple first laid eyes on each other while attending Harvard nine years ago. Zuckerberg, who is reportedly worth more than $19 billion, created social networking site Facebook, which remains one of the top websites in the world.
As for Billie Joe, it’s been a busy few months for the rocker. He flew to Cleveland, Ohio, last month to induct California funk-rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he and the guys of Green Day are also currently in the studio, recording their upcoming full-length. The new album will be the follow-up to 2009’s, “21st Century Breakdown.” For more information on everything Green Day, visit the band’s official site.
