30 Seconds to Mars, Radiohead, Gorillaz Up for MTV O Music Awards
MTV O Music Awards add 30 Seconds to Mars, Radiohead and more to 2012 nominees
Congratulations are in order for a slew of rock and alternative bands that have been added to the roster of nominees for the MTV O Music Awards. Thanks to fans writing in votes for the musicians they most wanted to see honored, the MTV O Music Awards have added a whole new batch of nominations.
The award show, which serves to honor artists’ digital achievements, has confirmed that 30 Seconds to Mars have now earned two nominations: Best Online Concert Experience and Fan Army FTW Awards.
“Another amazing example of the power of an incredibly committed community,” Thirty Seconds frontman Jared Leto told the Hollywood Reporter of the nominations. “The Echelon continues to surprise and inspire us and it’s entirely to their credit that we are now nominated for best online concert experience for our VyRT event. It’s especially meaningful since it was a category we were not even originally listed in and it was the first event for the start up VyRT. We are very grateful for that.”
As for other categories, OK Go, Radiohead, Gorillaz and the Flaming Lips are all up for the Digital Genius Award. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arcade Fire will duke it out for the Most Innovative Music Video Award for their videos for “Look Around” (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and “Sprawl II” (Arcade Fire).
The MTV O Music Awards stream live at OMusicAwards.com on June 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET. For a complete list of nominees and to vote, visit the award show’s official website.
