Black Label Society frontman Zakk Wylde drops new details about the band’s upcoming ‘Un-Blackened’ DVD

Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society recently rocked the U.K.’s Download Festival, and while in town, the metal guitar legend dropped new details about Black Label Society’s upcoming “Un-Blackened” DVD, as well as chatted about his experience playing the festival.

“We had a good time man!” Wylde told Metal Hammer of the Download gig. “The Download chapter of Black Label was way cool, man… It was great seeing everybody, I mean even before they played. Just getting a chance to see everybody and hang out and talk, because everybody’s usually working all the time. Doing or doing laundry, dishes, cooking, making beds… [laughs] You know how it goes!”

As for the upcoming “Un-Blackened” DVD, Wylde says the metal dudes plan to start rehearsals in July, bringing in an orchestra and guest musicians to rehearse with in August and start recording the album in late August. In September they’ll mix it, and then, they’ll hopefully get the album out soon thereafter.

Wylde recently released his first-ever book, titled “Bringing Metal to the Children.” Wylde says he’s as baffled as anyone that he published a book.

“I’m shocked that I wrote a book!” he said of the read, which chronicles life on the road and other tidbits from the metal life. “…I wish I could say I’m making up the stories that are in this book, but they are all too true… It’s not so much my autobiography. It’s just us sitting around laughing, talking about the different stories going, ‘You’ve got to be kidding, did that really happen?’” Check out Audio Ink Radio’s interview with “Bringing Metal to the Children” co-author Eric Hendrikx, here.
