Muse’s Matt Bellamy Gives Album Update for ‘The 2nd Law’
Muse singer Matt Bellamy says band’s new album is more experimental than previous releases
What should Muse enthusiasts expect from the alternative rock outfit’s upcoming full-length, “The 2nd Law?” According to frontman Matt Bellamy, the new set explored new creative ground for Muse. The trio released a two-minute trailer earlier this month that gave fans a taste of the new album, and the video featured some dubstep-inspired music among other unique musical flourishes. Bellamy says the guys experimented heavily on the new disc, so expect a variety of genres,
“We’ve tried a bunch of new things, which the trailer gives a glimpse of,” Bellamy told BBC Radio 1 . “We’ve basically tried to do what Rage Against the Machine did with hip-hop in the 1990s and take a bit of the electronic world and dubstep and play it with real instruments. There’s only one track like that, the rest of it is very, very diverse.” Even more bizarre, Bellamy added that the new collection also packs a “a really jazzy brass number,” which is a first for the band.
No word yet on when “The 2nd Law” will drop, but Bellamy says that the group is currently in the studio “putting together the track listing and listening to the final mixes.” For more on Muse, visit the band’s official website.
