Stone Temple Pilots to commemorate 20th anniversary of ‘Core’ with summer shows

Scott Weiland and his grunge rock clan Stone Temple Pilots have announced a handful of additional tour dates in honor of the 20th anniversary of the release of their groundbreaking debut album, “Core.” The band were already confirmed for a headlining showing at the Rock Allegiance music festival in Hershey, Penn., and now, the guys will make appearances in Mashantucket, Conn.; Huntington, N.Y.; and Gilford, N.H. before Rock Allegiance. Following the festival, the group will play a gig at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas.

Fans who attend the shows will have the chance to score a special meet-and-greet VIP package, which includes the opportunity to meet and snap a photo with Weiland. The VIP package also offers a limited-edition poster, unique tour shirt, autographed photo and a reserved seat in the first 10 rows at the concert.

Stone Temple Pilots’ tour sets off in August, but for fans who can’t wait a whole three months to score some STP action, the band will release their first-ever live DVD, “Alive in the Windy City,” tomorrow (June 5). The DVD documents the outfit’s 2010 presentation at the Riviera Theater in Chicago. (Featured photo credit: Chapman Baehler.)
