Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ getting a comic book makeover

Coldplay are apparently big enough comic book fans to want to turn their music into one big comic. Chris Martin and company have announced that they’ve been working with Academy Award-nominated writer and director Mark Osborne to put together a six-part comic book series revolving around their latest album, disc ‘Mylo Xyloto,’ and the book will arrive this week at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International.

“Three years ago we had an idea…about a character called Mylo Xyloto – ‘xylo’ as in xylophone, ‘to’ as in toe,” Coldplay said in an official statement. “Gradually Mylo’s story and universe came together and this ended up providing the backdrop for the album and tour.”

The debut copy of ‘Mylo Xyloto,’ the comic book, will be on hand at Comic-Con, which kicks off Thursday at the San Diego Convention Center. Also, a limited run of an exclusive version of the book will be available online at Coldplay’s official website. The six-part comic will then arrive monthly via Bongo Comics Group beginning in February of next year. Those really itching to get their eyes on the book will be able to pre-order it via Coldplay’s site, as well.
