Becoming the Archetype to Unleash New Album, ‘I Am,’ in September
Christian metallers Becoming the Archetype will release ‘I Am’ this fall
Christian progressive death metal darlings Becoming the Archetype have released the official album teaser for their upcoming full-length, “I Am,” and the staff at Audio Ink Radio thinks it sounds pretty killer. The collection will be released on Sept. 18 via Solid State Records. Check out the album teaser below.
Guitarist Seth Hecox says the set is heavy. Really heavy. “I Am is 100% head banging riffs,” Hecox said in an official statement. “Gone are the sitars and horns of ‘Celestial Completion.’ Instead, we’ve crafted an album full of the heaviest and most technical songs we’ve ever written.”
Hecox added that one of the album’s new songs, “The Time Bender,” bridges the gap between Becoming the Archetype’s older material and the new release. “The Time Bender’ is a microcosm of the new album because it displays elements of what Becoming the Archetype has done in the past as well as elements of what the Becoming the Archetype sound is becoming,” Hecox said. “In that sense, it’s a perfect bridge between people’s past enjoyment of Becoming the Archetype’s catalog and people’s excitement over the new material.
“We’ve been playing the song live this whole summer so lots of ears have already heard a simplified version of this song and feedback has been spectacular. It’s encouraging to know that so many people stand behind what we do and willingly follow us in each step of our musical evolution.”
The ‘I Am’ track listing will feature 10 fresh songs, including “The Ocean Walker,” “The Time Bender,” “The Eyes Of The Storm,” “The Sky Bearer,” “The Machine Killer,” “The War Ender,” “The Weapon Breaker,” “The Planet Maker,” “The Sun Eater” and the title track, “I Am.”
