As I Lay Dying Stream Entire New Album, ‘Awakened’
Listen to As I Lay Dying’s new album, ‘Awakened’
It’s almost here, metallers! As I Lay Dying’s latest album, “Awakened,” is due out on Tuesday (Sept. 25) via Metal Blade Records, and to celebrate, the Christian metal band are streaming their entire album, from front to back, via AOL Music.
The 11-track set was produced by Bill Stevenson, of Black Flag and the Descendents fame. Stevenson has worked with such punk heavyweights as Rise Against, FOFX and Anti-Flag, so it’s a unique pairing to find him producing a heavy metal group.
As I Lay Dying spent much of this past summer on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem tour, and Audio Ink Radio caught up with drummer Jordan Mancino at the Detroit date. When asked about the band’s experience working with Stevenson, Mancino said it was a great match and that Stevenson brought a new outlook to the band’s hard-hitting tracks.
“He brought a different perspective, but we also felt that he understood and connected with our music,” Mancino said. “We didn’t want someone who maybe had songwriting capabilities but didn’t understand what we were about. He understood that and also he’s a great songwriter and gave us a lot of really cool criticisms. He was able to pull that greatness out of us.”
